What to write in a Sympathy thank you card
It can be quite daunting to think of what to write in a Sympathy Thank you card when you are still grieving but fortunately there are a number of services available to ease your worry and burden.
Sympathy cards - also known as Bereavement Cards are sent from the family who has suffered the loss to a specific selection of individuals to whom you want to express your thanks.
Etiquette deems it proper to send a written acknowledgement to the following people who have offered their help, or given personal support
* Those who have donated to a charity specified by you
* Those who have sent flowers and/or Sympathy cards
* Those who have offered and given any form of practical help during this period
* The pallbearers
When you write your card be as personal as you can. Rather than say ‘Thank you for your support’, add a note that really makes them feel valued such as:
"It was so wonderful to have help with the shopping. Thank you so much" or
"The meals you cooked for us were really appreciated. I can’t thank you enough".
"Your help with the children was a godsend. Many thanks from us all".
Try and send your Sympathy Thank You card as soon as you feel able.
Many companies now offer personalized print services, so if you don’t feel up to it, it is possible to order – and personalize your sympathy thank you card at the same time.
These firms offer a selection of verses for you to choose from. You can add in your own messages, names and acknowledgements and these will be printed in your cards that are then sent by snail mail.
Personalized services make it easy for you to take a bit of time over this one decision, and to leave the rest to the printers. You can then, if you wish, merely sign the bottom. This way you don't have to write a personal message in every one of your Sympathy thank-you cards.
Thinking of what to write in your sympathy thank you card need not add to your stress at this difficult time and choosing verses, messages and companies wisely can greatly ease your note-writing burden.
