Be ahead of the crowd with a interview thank you card

The is becoming and more common in the job hunting market.  Anything that will set you apart from the rest is worth taking a bit of time over.

All of the large job seeking/hunting and finding agencies recommend that you follow up an interview within one or two days of the event.  Not only is this courteous – it will give you an opportunity to make another favorable impression as they go through the selection process.  It may just be the something extra that makes all the difference, in your favor.

You may choose to send an individual  to each interviewer (if this was your experience).  In most cases though it is sufficient to cadres your interview thank you card to the main interviewer and to ask them to thank the other members of the interview panel, on your behalf.

Mention your qualifications again (briefly) and how they fit with the post you interviewed for.

You may bring out individual highlights of the interview – as you saw it.  Again, restate your interest in the post and say how your skills and background meet with your potential employer’s needs.

Not only will this be totally the opposite of what most people do after an interview; it is the action most likely to help you stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Every single person who has helped you in the job search process should be thanked.  You may want to couple your thank you process by sending a referral thank you card to anyone who helped refer you to your recent interview opportunity.

Make sure you address your letter to your interviewer by name, and title, and include, if possible, one of your business cards.  Note also the post applied for and the date of the interview.

Your letter will let them know that you value their time and that you are prepared to go the extra mile in securing the post.

Be ahead of the game and different from the herd in the job hunting game. Gather plenty of ideas of how to word your card.  When it’s over, rather than sit and rest, take the time to write that important interview thank you card.
